The FE 350s is known for its versatility in all types of terrain. With a new lightweight chassis and enhanced all-round performance, it possesses 450-rivalling power-to-weight ratio, while keeping the light and agile feel of a 250. Already a preferred choice for those wanting a perfect balance of weight and power, the new 2020 model combines premium WP suspension, innovative electronics and comfortable new ergonomics, along with a host of other innovative refinements that make the FE 350s second to none when the going gets tough.
Features may include:When it comes to versatility, the DOHC 350 cc engine is second to none. By sharing much of its architecture with the 250 cc engine, the FE 350s delivers a fine balance between 450-rivaling power and lightweight 250 handling.
A new casting with a lateral coolant outlet gives the cylinder head a new layout, and 200 g weight saving. Internally, the DOHC layout also features new camshafts with optimized timing and low-friction DLC coated finger followers. Lightweight titanium valves - 36.3 mm intake and 29.1 mm exhaust - a new cylinder head cover, spark plug, and spark plug connector all aid in delivering optimal performance.
Featuring a new cooling architecture and paired with a lightweight forged bridged-box-type piston, the 88 mm bore cylinder is refined to deliver exceptional power. These updates also result in lower oscillating masses, higher revs and a very wide power band. The piston crown is also optimized to fit perfectly in the high compression combustion chamber and together with a new cylinder head gasket increases the compression ratio from 12.3:1 to 13.5:1.
The crankshaft has been upgraded to improve overall reliability and guarantee long service intervals of 135 hours. This has been made possible by a new bushing-type bearing at the connecting rod and two force-fitted bearing shells at the big-end bearing. Additionally, a new oil supply to the main bearing is integrated within the engine casing.
The new chrome-moly steel frame is expertly crafted using laser-cut, robot-welded, hydro-formed tubes, ensuring the highest level of precision and quality. While retaining the advanced geometry of its predecessor, it features an increase in longitudinal and torsional rigidity, for improved rider feedback, better energy absorption and increased stability. The cylinder head mountings are made of forged aluminum, further improving handling and comfort. The premium blue powder coated frame features standard frame protectors, providing extra durability.
The carbon composite subframe is unique to Husqvarna Motorcycles and showcases pioneering technology and innovation. Using 70% polyamide and 30% carbon fiber, the new 2-piece subframe saves 250 g for a total weight of just over 2.2 lbs. Light, robust and now 50 mm longer, the new subframe delivers improved rigidity, handling and rider comfort.
The exhaust system is expertly designed to deliver class-leading performance at the lowest possible weight. The header pipe is designed and manufactured in two pieces, to be as compact as possible. It also features a new joining position, which allows it to be removed without having to take out the rear shock. Further innovation allows for a shorter, more compact silencer without increasing noise levels. The component is crafted from lightweight aluminum and is stylishly finished off in a new coating that highlights its premium quality.
